High-performance imaging where precision meets speed
In modern industrial automation, scientific research and aerospace exploration, vision systems serve as the primary tool for real-time inspection, quality control and autonomous navigation. Industrial imaging demands far more than standard commercial photography; it requires absolute pixel integrity, precise synchronization, extreme reliability under harsh environments and low-latency data processing.
Acies designs and develops custom industrial cameras, specialized optical front-ends and complete embedded vision architectures. We support our customers from initial sensor evaluation and electrical schematic design to FPGA firmware development and high-speed PCB layout, delivering tailored solutions when off-the-shelf cameras cannot meet specific performance, dimensional or environmental constraints.
Custom image sensor integration and electronics
The core of any high-performance camera is its optical sensor. Acies has extensive experience integrating state-of-the-art CMOS and CCD image sensors, maximizing their capabilities through ultra-low-noise hardware design.
Our custom camera electronics and hardware capabilities include:
- Integration of high-resolution, high-frame-rate global and rolling shutter CMOS sensors;
- Ultra-low-noise analog-to-digital conversion and precision sensor biasing networks;
- High-speed differential signaling design for MIPI CSI-2, Sub-LVDS and SLVS-EC interfaces;
- Hardware-triggered hardware synchronization for multi-camera arrays and strobe lighting;
- Advanced thermal management to reduce sensor dark current and pixel noise;
- Ruggedized and ultra-compact rigid-flex PCB designs for tight mechanical integration.
FPGA-based real-time image processing
Processing high-bandwidth pixel streams in real time requires massive computational power. Acies leverages advanced FPGA and SoC technologies (such as AMD Xilinx or Intel Altera) to perform complex image processing directly on the camera hardware, drastically reducing the load on the host PC.
We develop embedded firmware for real-time applications including:
- On-the-fly de-bayering (color reconstruction) and bad-pixel correction;
- Real-time lens distortion correction and flat-field correction (FFC);
- High-dynamic-range (HDR) image merging and contrast optimization;
- Hardware-accelerated region-of-interest (ROI) extraction and sub-sampling;
- Custom pixel-filtering, edge detection and object-tracking algorithms implemented in logic.
Industrial interfaces and standardized protocols
A professional vision system must guarantee reliable, long-distance data transmission without dropping frames. We implement both standardized vision protocols and custom high-speed communication buses depending on your application requirements.
Our connectivity architectures support:
- GigE Vision & 10 GigE: Long-distance transmission over standard Ethernet infrastructure;
- USB3 Vision: High-bandwidth, low-overhead connectivity for compact systems;
- Camera Link & CoaXPress: Deterministic, ultra-high-speed interfaces for demanding real-time inspection;
- Custom Fiber Optic links: Complete galvanic isolation and immunity to extreme electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Aerospace, scientific and harsh-environment vision
When a camera operates in deep space, inside a nuclear facility or in extreme industrial environments, standard designs fail. Acies specializes in engineering vision systems that withstand severe mechanical and environmental stress.
Our specialized imaging solutions cover:
- Space & CubeSat cameras: Radiation-hardened architectures, outgassing-compliant materials and vacuum-compatible designs;
- Scientific microscopy & spectroscopy: High sensitivity in non-visible spectrums (UV, NIR, SWIR) and cooled-sensor electronics;
- Heavy industry inspection: Dust-proof, waterproof (IP67/IP69K) housing integration and extreme shock/vibration tolerance.
